What to Expect: Meeting friends, shopping with the stitching-relating vendors, weekend get-away, stitching time, door prizes, item exchange games.

Exchange Game
Meet new friends by playing a game where we exchange scissor fobs. Stitch or purchase a scissor fob and then wrap it with a note saying who gave it. We will play a game where the wrapped fobs will be mixed up and passed around so that everyone receives a scissor fob in exchange for the one they gave. Open your exchange gift and seek out the stitcher with your new conversation starter.

Pass the Stash
Got stuff in your stash that you know you’ll never get to but would love to pass on to another stitcher who might like it? There will be a Pass the Stash table available for you to place your items and where all attendees can select from your donations. Please come by the table at the conclusion of the retreat to gather your unclaimed items, or they become the property of The Stitching Bee Retreat.

What to bring
We want you to be comfortable. Consider bringing your stitching lamps and battery pack (extension cords are not allowed), magnification, your current Work In Progress (WIP), drinking tumblers with lids, a light wrap in case you get cool, and an outlook for fun and stitching.

Classes

Description: Introduction to Counted Canvas Needlepoint

This gorgeous counted canvas class is sure to delight a wide range of students from beginner to advanced. Designed by renowned needlepoint designer Laura Perrin, Holiday Ornament Series #1 from her American Quilt Collection, contains four beautiful motifs to stitch.

Our teacher, Mary Waldsmith, will lead students through the stitches to complete the Lone Star design (upper left corner) during class. The kit includes the patterns and threads for all four motifs, a full set of stretcher bars, and canvas for one motif. Additional pieces of canvas will be needed to complete the other three motifs, which you can purchase in the shopping room.

Class will be held on Saturday, May 25th from 8 am to 5 pm and is $90.

We hope you’ll join us and learn how to stitch this beautiful ornamental piece. Mary is a wonderful, engaging teacher and a long-standing member of the Embroiderers’ Guild of America. Her classes are fun, and counted canvas is a wonderful technique to explore if you love to cross stitch. We hope to see you in class!
